Going on a break
Before things become too busy, it requires me to simplify a few things
It’s been a packed 2026 to say the least. Not hectic and stressful but enough that has made me consider my current schedule.
The one thing I’ve become better in recent years is taking breaks, and recognising when things are beginning to get too much. In this case, I haven’t hit that point but I recognise the signs and want to course correct before it becomes too much. So I’ve decided to take a month-long break from the newsletter.
The big reason is that I’ve been writing more in my professional life. I’m currently working in RTÉ again for their Brainstorm section on a temporary basis. I even started writing for it - I had this piece published recently which was enjoyable to research.
It’s great to be doing this, but it’s more time and resources to dedicate so when I’m working on more specific deadlines, it means other projects fall down the pecking order, including this newsletter.
This newsletter is an enjoyable project and I don’t have any intention of stepping away completely, but I also recognise that this is a moment where I have to simplify my commitments and re-adjust.
So the plan is take a month off, return on May 13th and continue writing until my usual summer break. So for now, enjoy April and see you all in a month’s time.
